The original campus plans for the University of Florida at Gainesville were developed by the firm of Edwards & Walter. Kenneth A. Megill was on the faculty of the Dept. of Philosophy at the University of Florida from 1967 through the spring of 1973. Megill's controversial views on the purpose and role of the university, as well as his political activism, prompted a motion for his dismissal in the Florida Senate in 1969.
